沙巴古达 Kudat is such a small and friendly town. In fact, it was the first capital of North Borneo (now Sabah) before the famous Sandakan and Jesselton (now Kota Kinabalu). Don’t be surprised to know that! Now, back to the food business. It’s always a headache to think, “What to eat?” most of the time, especially when it comes to traveling Kudat – Where to have the best and simplest food to survive a day?” Seems like I am not the only one who have these thoughts. That’s why you are here to find out.

Let’s see.

Mei Wei Café (美味饮食中心)

As we were hunting for food one morning, we asked around town and found out there’s a little café called Mei Wei (It means ‘delicious’  in Chinese). Packed with locals, this café is served no pork. It was our first time exploring this little friendly café. Just like any typical restaurant or cafe, the menu is placed on walls that easy for people to read. There’s about 10 dishes on the menu that you can choose from.

During my work trip, I have tried two different dishes in a day. NO! I didn’t. It was two different days. Be careful with your diet, Chloe. All of us tried the Tom Yam and the milky Fish Head noodle soup. However, you can change the fish head to fish meat instead. Their Lemon Teh Ping (cold Lemon tea) is so refreshing and worth to be mentioned! Not sure where is the location? Call +6019-8409363

Gerai Makan Seafood 2899
Thinking a place to have Sabah’s delicious and fresh seafood? This is the place. Not many know where is this place. My colleague text each other on our group chats, telling each other to meet at ‘2899’. Hence, I was wondering what that was. Probably, it is just another place to have cold beers. Since they asked to join, I’m just gonna explore this place after work.

Hidden at the back of an alley, the restaurant serves fresh seafood that they catch daily. Don’t ever doubt their cooking skills because the taste of most of their dishes is unexpectedly good. We ordered several dishes which including steam fish, butter prawn, Sabah vege with egg and Fish soup. It just cost about RM120 for 5 – 6 pax sharing.

Wonder why I only posted one picture? It’s because we were too hungry and there’s no time for pictures!

Well, as a result, these are the two that on my list for now. I hope to explore more soon and I will be updating this post from time to time. Till next time!
