You must be thinking why am I holding a plate of burger in a pancake house. Well, it’s not only pancake that you can find in the Pancake House International, there’s a lot more.
Beginning of September 2016, the Pancake House International extended their business to the most busiest town area, Jalan Pantai (near Gaya Street) – same row as Maybank, opposite Little Italy or Kinabalu Daya Hotel. Talk about the traffic here, meh. And, if you don’t know yet, Pancake House International is an international brand originated from the Philippines.
A few of us were the lucky ones, who had the privilege to be among the first to dine-in here before anybody else before their opening on the 8th September 2016 (89 89 899, it means wealthy for long in Chinese). Ohhhhh, imagine ‘em pancakes for all!
Frankly speaking, all eyes were on the restaurant when the first Pancake House International opened at Karamunsing back in 2011 (5 years already!). We always go in a group and I remember most of us crave for the Lemon Pancake Peak. Literally crazy about it! The tower of fluffy pancake filled with lemon cream on every layer.
Me? I go for the Caramel Banana Walnut Waffle mostly. Some of us will go for their lamb chop. So, yeah, some of us knew that they don’t only serve pancakes and waffles, but quite a lot of delicious Western and Philippine cuisine as mains!
What else if it’s not pancake? It’s fluffy and enjoyable in every bite. We tried the Lemon Pancake Peak, Orange Pancake Peak, Chocolate Marble Pancake, Blueberry Pancake, Durian Pancake and Caramel Banana Walnut Waffle.
Personally, my least favourite one is the Chocolate Marble Pancake (Rating: 1/5). I always like unique stuffs. So, it failed to win my heart. As for the Blueberry Pancake (Rating: 2/5), it is quite sweet for me, but give a try if you love Blueberry! Maybe it’s just a personal preferences.
My favourite ones are the Durian Pancake, Lemon Pancake Peak and Caramel Banana Walnut Waffle.
I bet everyone likes the Fiesta Taco Salad (Rating 4/5). This hearty bowl of salad came with Roasted chicken bits, kidney beans, mixed greens, and grated cheddar cheese with special dressing. Grab that handful of Best Taco in Town (Rating 4/5) and dig in to taste the minced chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese wrapped with crispy taco shell.
Sourish and sweet, both salad and taco are served with their special dressing – very tempting at all time. Not forgetting the Almondigas Soup, one of the Philippine’s local cuisine. (Rating 3/5, because it’s a bit oily for me)
For me, Pancake House International has the best in-house appetizer. I would go for their appetizer if I want to go for a light meal.
Best Taco in Town is my first favourite among all, if you really want me to choose. Probably, the crispy taco that brings my appetite. While, the second will be the Fiesta Taco Salad.
There is a whole list of mains might catch your eyes, but please go for their signature ones – Grilled Salmon, Lamb Chop, Pan Chicken Burger and Gambero (Pasta).
Trust me, I almost finished the whole plate of Grilled Salmon and Lamb Chop.
I don’t wanna share!
